New York, NY, (March 04, 2011) – Teresita Ayala, also known as Lah Tere, co-founder of Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen (MHHK) and former member of the political Hip Hop trio Rebel Diaz flies solo.  Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen (MHHK) is a multifaceted hip hop event designed to showcase women artists, especially women of color. MHHK serves as a social justice community-organizing platform that educates and empowers women of color on issues that impact their lives, including HIV/AIDS and reproductive justice. Since MHHK’s inception Lah Tere knew that as the event grew momentum and exposure many women’s lives would be changed. Little did she know that it would radically change hers as well.

“As we developed the focus of this year’s MHHK edition, Let’s Get Active!, something deep inside me was stirred. For as long as I can remember I had been putting my health and wellness on the back burner.” Lah Tere explained. As I stated in my resignation email to my former band members,  “My personal health and wellness needs my undivided attention and I have made a commitment to make this a priority once and for all.”

For this same reason, Lah Tere also resigned from The Rebel Diaz Arts Collective, the Hip Hop community space she co-founded in the South Bronx in 2008.

“In the process of activating others I have activated myself. It is such a blessing to have a clear roadmap to my destiny!”, exclaimed Lah Tere. That roadmap to her destiny includes a debut solo album “Made of Honor”, a collaborative album with her brother Tony Centrino, “Sibling Rivalry”, the next installment of Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen and much more.

Lah Tere plans on leaving no life untouched.

Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen, Volume 4: Let’s Get Active! will take place on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 2pm – 5pm in the main theater at Hostos Community College. Hostos is located at 450 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY. The event is FREE and open to all ages.
