Goldman Sachs vet John Lindfors joins Digital Sky Technologies as partner(an investor in facebook, zynga, and groupon)

Global investment group Digital Sky Technologies (aka DST), who has famously invested in major Internet companies such as Facebook, Zynga and Groupon, has made another key hire.

The latest finance whiz to join the Russian investment firm as partner is John Lindfors, who will start there next September.

Lindfors has been a partner at Goldman Sachs and head of the bank’s European Technology Investment Banking practice since 2006. He joined Goldman Sachs as a Financial Analyst in 1993 and worked in London and New York during his 17 year career at the bank.

Born in Helsinki, Finland in 1969, he graduated from the Swedish School of Economics with an M.Sc. in 1993.

Goldman Sachs has lost key people to DST before; it’s proven to be a welcome fishing pond for the investment firm. Alexander Tamas joined DST as a Partner in 2008, after working in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in London where he was responsible for numerous technology and Internet IPOs in Europe and Russia, mergers and acquisitions in the Internet and software sectors and fundraisings for high-growth companies across Europe.

Another partner, Verdi Israelian, joined Digital Sky Technologies as a Partner in 2009. Prior to DST, Verdi co-headed CIS operations of European Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in Moscow, where he led several private equity investments in consumer, retail, new media and real estate sectors in Russia and Kazakhstan.
